Abstract
922,416. Shuttering for casting concrete. RAPID METAL DEVELOPMENTS Ltd. Nov. 28, 1960 [Aug. 27, 1959], No. 29292/59. Class 20 (2). [Also in Group XXV] A nut 6, for use with a tie-rod 5 for holding, at a required distance apart, metal sheets or posts 2 of formwork in which a concrete structure is to be cast, has a cylindrical stem 6a and a non-circular, e.g. hexagonal, head 6b and is secured by a washer 11 and a circlip 9 in a nut groove 10, against axial movement but not rotation, in a sleeve 8, e.g. of metal, synthetic resin or wood. A stop-peg 7 or an unthreaded portion of the nut limits the travel of the nut 6 on the tie-rod 5. The sleeve 8 need not be coned, or circular in cross-section. To give the correct spacing of two parallel posts 2, a nut 6 is screwed on to each end of the tie-rod 5 to a distance determined by the length of the tapped nut bore or by the peg 7. Posts 2 or sheets, placed one against each nut head 6b, are held in place by bolts 13 and, after casting, the bolts 13 and nuts 6 and sleeves 8 are removed for re-use, a tool being insertable in an enlargement 8b of the sleeve-bore to engage the nut head 6b.
