Abstract
542,759. Internal clamps. JAEGER-AVIATION. July 25, 1939, No. 21615. Convention date, Aug. 5, 1938. [Class 44] [Also in Group XXVIII] A securing device, for maintaining plates 9, 10, or the like juxtaposed, with or without mutual contact, comprises a unit having a cylindrical core 1 on which a rubber socket 5 is supported throughout its length. A base 12 on the core engages the socket 5 at one end, and at the other end is a cylindrical member 14 having a diameter not exceeding that of the socket. A clamping screw 13 passing through the core and threaded into the member 14 produces axial crushing of the socket so as to produce a retaining bulge 5a thereon. The whole unit is introduced into holes in the plates 9, 10, from one side thereof. If the plates are spaced apart one or more bulges may be formed on the middle portion of the socket which may have inextensible hoops fitted around it at these parts. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 comprises also constructions in which a sleeve 3, Fig. 2 (Cancelled), is secured to a wall 1 by a rubber socket 5, the latter being compressed axially between a head 4 on the sleeve 3 and a washer 6 upon tightening up a nut 7 threaded to the sleeve 3. The head 4 can be passed through the bore in the plate 1 during assembly. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
