Abstract

919,609. Pipe couplings. MIDLAND BRASS FITTINGS CO. Ltd. May 11,1960 [May 7,1959], No. 15636/59. Class 99(1) In a central heating system the inlet of a radiator is connected to the outlet of a water delivery valve by a pipe coupling which comprises a sleeve 10 provided with an air cook 15 for venting the interior of the sleeve to atmosphere. The air cock is constituted by a manually operable needle valve which screws in a valve body 13 screwed into the sleeve 10 and provided with a passage 16 for the escape of air. Tubular parts of the radiator and the delivery valve are secured in the ends of the sleeve by copper rings 12 which are contracted on to the parts by cap nuts 11 when the latter are screwed on the sleeve. In a modification one end of the sleeve screws on to a spigot on the delivery valve.
