Abstract
910,164. Drafting system. T.M.M. (RESEARCH) Ltd. Nov. 23, 1960 [Aug. 27, 1959], No. 29349/59. Class 120 (2). A drafting system comprises a bottom drafting-roller having one or more working positions in contact with one or more working positions of a co-operating top roller and supporting shaft portions which at their bearing positions are of no less diameter than at any other position, except at such position, if any, at which an oilretaining circumferential groove is provided. In Fig. 2, each of three bottom rollers 11, 13 is formed of a shaft of constant diameter and has spaced fluted working portions 15 and portions 16 by which it is supported at its ends and at intermediate positions, the arrangement shown being that at an intermediate position. In each case, portion 16 is mounted in a nylon-graphite half-bearing 19, Fig. 1, of the form shown, slidably received in a similarly-shaped slot in a bracket 17 on a stand 14. Upper half-bearings, or pads 23 of foamed rubber, are held in position by a plate 21 screwed to the bracket at 22. Grooves 29, 30 prevent oil from the bearing passing along the roller.
