Abstract
903,629. Soles. ROMOLO, C. May 4, 1959 [May 30, 1958], No. 15105/59. Class 17 (2). A throughsole 4, preferably of moulded rubber, has two groups of curved ribs, the convex sides of the those 1 on the sole proper, and the concave sides of those 2 on the heel, facing the toe end. The degree of curvature of the ribs on the sole proper may decrease from rib to rib, that rib adjacent the toe end having the greatest curvature; and the depths of the ribs on a portion of the sole proper adjacent the toe may decrease successively from rib to rib towards the toe, to facilitate the rolling action of the foot in walking. Each rib is, in crosssection, a truncated triangle, as shown, the external root angle at the heel-facing side of the cross-section being slightly less than a rightangle and the internal root angle at the toefacing side of the cross-section being, say, 45 degrees. As its waist 3 the throughsole is recessed to a depth less than the depth of the inter-rib grooves.
