Abstract
897,492. Automatic voltage-control systems. BOSCH G.m.b.H., ROBERT. March 2, 1960, No. 7319/60. Class 38 (4). A voltage regulator of the vibrating contact type, for a shunt excited D.C. generator, has an auxiliary current limiting winding which is energized when a current limiting signal exceeds the bias on a diode in series with the winding. The field F of the generator G is controlled by contact C actuated by the voltage-responsive winding 12. A resistor 14 is connected in series with the load (together with a diode 16 which replaces the cut-out) and is shunted by the current limiting winding 11 in series with a diode 13. The current for the voltageresponsive winding 12 also passes through the winding 11, and the resulting small voltagedrop biases the diode 13 so that it does not conduct until the voltage across resistor 14, due to the load current, exceeds this bias.
