Abstract

894,696. Sprung frames for cycles. HORNSBY, G. E. Nov. 2, 1960, No. 37607/60. Class 136(3). A sprung frame for a pedal bicycle comprises spaced parallel arms 11 and 12 at the end of each front fork member 14 between which the wheel axle 18 can slide supported by compression springs 10 and 16 which are positioned between the axle and stop means at each end of the spaced arms 11 and are housed for retention in arcuate recesses 21 and 22 on the inside face of each of the arms. The sliding portion of the axle 18 is a block 17 with an outer flange 37. The bottoms of these arms are held together by a bolt 20. A rubber bumper-stop 28 is mounted on a stud 29 in the fork 14. The end of the mudguard stays 30 are fixed to the arms 11 at 31. The axle 46 of the rear wheel is similarly mounted between springs 53 and 54 housed in a member 40 whose socket 42 is clamped adjustably at 45 on to a frame member 43.
