Class 100(4) A type lever mechanism has type levers la shaped as shown with oblique portions 1b, 1c so that the centre of mass M of every lever of a typewriter or the like is in the plane in which the main lever portion 1a moves during its pivoting to the striking position. A guide in the form of a wide mouthed slot may be provided to guide the levers to the striking position by engaging the part 1c. To ensure that the angle of pivoting during striking is not more than 90 degrees the pivotal axis may be behind the place of printing and also the distance from the type heads rest position to the printing point is greater than the radius of curvature of the pivotal axis.
