887,550. Tables; chairs. SKRIVRIT A.B. Oct. 3, 1960, No. 33821/60. Classes 52(2) and 52(3) A desk with rectangular frame 3 and braces 4 has parallel legs each with tubular upper portion movable on lower portion 1 which carries a nut 15 in which rotates a screw spindle 14 attached to upper part 2 through a bearing 13 to provide adjustment of height by rotation of the spindle 14 and a separate transmission casing 8, containing shaft pins 25 to each engage a socket 16 in a spindle 14 and driven in unison by a chain 11 and sprockets 9 through handle 27, can be placed on the desk to effect adjustment. The legs are inclined so that raising the desk also moves it away from the seat. In a modification a chair, Fig. 6, has legs with upper and lower parts 32, 31 which can be similarly adjusted by means of a separate transmission arrangement, a back rest 38 being adjustable in guide 35. In a further modification, Fig. 9, legs 31 are at an angle so that raising of the seat 33 and back rest 38 causes backward movement thereof.
