Abstract

781,342. Seats. LIE, F. July 4, 1955, No. 19302/55. Class 52(1) A torsion rod 11 spanning the frame 1 of a tilting chair seat is encased in a tube 7 which rotates in sleeves 8 each secured to the frame and coupled by a yoke 10. One end of the rod is secured to the tube 7 and the other end is fixed to the frame and a radial arm 18 carried by the tube bears against an adjustable stop 17, Fig. 3, in a pedestal head 4 into which the pedestal 3 is socketed, rotatably or otherwise. Movement of the stop 17 by the operating screw 16 enables the torsion rod to be preloaded to suit the weight of the user. The yoke 10 at th erear of the pedestal head rotates on the tube 7 and carries an adjustable stop 22 coacting with a lug 19 on the fixed part of the head to limit the angle of tilt.
