Abstract

885,254. Sewing machines. PFAFF A.G., G. M Aug. 10, 1960 [Sept. 19, 1959], No. 27637/60. Class 112 To allow the sewing together of layers of material without relative movement of those layers as they pass through the sewing machine the drive shaft 16 of a feed wheel 3 and the drive shaft 22 of a roller foot 4 are driven from a shaft 13 by way of a differential gear 2. The shaft 13 is driven at one end from an adjustable transmission 12 which may be regulated by the lever 26 to adjust the stitch length. The other end drives, through gearing 14, 15, the cage 7 of the differential gear 2. One bevel pinion 8 of the differential is attached to the shaft 16, the other bevel pinion 9 drives the shaft 22 by means of shafts 18, 20 and their associated gearing.
