867,333. Finishing fabrics. MULLERS, K. A. Oct. 7, 1957 [Nov. 15, 1956], No. 31363/57. Class 42 (1). A card-raising machine in which a rotary drum carries nap rollers alternating with counter-nap rollers is characterized in that the drum is driven at a regulable speed. The motor 11 drives, through a regulable gear 12, 13, the shaft 10 of the drum which drives the draft rollers 15, 16 through pulleys 17, 19 and 23, these rollers controlling the feeding and drawing off of the fabric. Also driven from the shaft 20 through regulable gears 21, 22 is the pinion 20 which drives the gear-wheel 23 which turns the counter nap rollers 24 by means of a V-belt. The nap-raising rollers are similarly driven through a regulable gear 26, 27 from the shaft 10. It is stated that, once the gears are set, the raising force remains the same for both sets of raising rollers even when the speed of the material is adjusted and that this force can be represented by scales on hand wheels 28, 29 which adjust the gears.
