Abstract
884,097. Haymaking machines. VAN DER LELY N. V., C. April 21, 1960 [May 13, 1959], No. 14061/60. Class 6(3). Relates to a haymaking machine of the kind having rake-wheels 20 arrangeable in a single group for side-delivery but in two or more groups for swath-turning. According to the invention, the main frame is fixed to the front of a tractor 13 and includes two frame-members 1, 2 provided with rake-wheel supports, the first member 1 being immovable relatively to the tractor in a horizontal direction and the second member 2 being attached at its free end to the first member, for side-delivery, but being vertically pivoted relatively to the tractor so that, for swath-turning, it extends parallel to the first member with its free end unsupported. The two members are carried on a transverse member 3 which is supported on the tractor about horizontal pivots 11a, 12a. The frame member 1 is braced by a fixed strut 14 and is supported by a caster-wheel 15a. In the swath-turning position, the second frame-member is braced by a tie 5 which is pinned, at 8, to the beam 3, but, in the side-delivery position, the beam 2 acts as a further strut by being connected to a point 26 on the strut 14 and the tie beam (shown dotted) engages the junction between the main strut 15 and the transverse beam 3. The rakewheels are mounted on cranks 19 resiliently supported by springs 31 and chains from rods extending longitudinally along the beams 1, 2 the rods being movable in unison by chains 32 attached to a hand-lever 38.
