877,574. Side-delivery rakes. VAN DER LELY N.V., C. Sept. 25, 1957 [Sept. 29, 1956], No. 30115/57. Class 6(3). A side-delivery rake comprises a wheeled frame of trapezium shape in plan view capable of being drawn in various directions and having bearings for rake-wheels arranged on one of its parallel sides. The frame includes two parallel beams 1, 2, interconnected by arched cross-members 3, 4, 5, which are extended downwardly beyond the beam 2 to carry vertical bearings 6, 7, 8, for horizontal beams, such as 13, carrying pairs of rake-wheels in groups 9, 10, 11. Each beam 13 has two alternative bearings 17, 18, at each end for rake-wheel cranks 20 and is supported by an adjustable swivel-wheel 39 the plane of rotation of which can be locked by a pin and apertured segment 53, 57. Further swivelwheels 36, 37, support the ends of the beams 1 and are attached to drawbars 44, 45. The device may be arranged for turning three narrow swaths, as in Fig. 1, by being drawn in the direction V by the drawbar 44. For side-delivery, Fig. 2 (not shown), the beams 13 are rotated in their bearings in a clockwise direction till the rake-wheels are all parallel. For tedding, Fig 4 (not shown, the beams are rotated anti-clockwise until the rake-wheels are all parallelbut do not feed to one another. For turning two wide swaths, Fig. 3, rake-wheels 32, 33, 34, and their cranks are removed from the groups 9 and 10 and mounted in the bearings 60 on the beam 1. The group 10 is then turned so that its foremost rake-wheel 35 co-operates with the group 11, the device being then drawn in the direction U by the drawbar 45. Specification 877,578 is referred to.
