In a pipe joint comprising a housing 11 slidably engaging within a cap 17, the housing has one or more fluid passages 12, 13 provided with keyways 31, 32 the bottoms of which extend a short distance circumferentially to form pipe locking means, and the cap 17 has one or more pipes 21, 22 movable therein and provided with packing rings 23, 24 for sealing engagement in the passages 12, 13, and with pieces 27, 28 to engage in the pipe keyways 31, 32. Arms 35, 36 extend longitudiually from the cap 17 outside the housing 11, slots 37, 38 being provided in the arms and cap for guiding the cap slidably between an engaged and a disengaged position with respect to the housing, and pivot pins 40, 41 being secured to the housing 11 and extending through the slots 37, 38 whereby the cap 17 can be pivoted from the disengaged position out of alignment with the housing 11. The slots 37, 38 are provided with horizontal portions having notches 42 which engage the pins 40, 41 for locking the cap 17 on the housing 11. Alternatively, the slots are formed in the housing 11 and the pins are secured internally at the ends of the arms 35, 36.
