Abstract

803,726. Pipe joints. STORA KOPPARBERGS BERGSLAGS A.B. Feb. 1, 1957, No. 3575/57. Class 99(1). Two tubular members 23, 24 have peripheral grooves 28 containing sealing rings 29, 35 and are surrounded by half-circular collars 26, 27 with inwardly extending flanges 31 received in recesses 32, the collars 26, 27 being maintained in position by a surrounding sleeve 25 movable axially so as to engage or disengage the members and the sealing rings being compressed between the tubular members 23, 24 and the sleeve 25. The sleeve 25 may be secured to one of the tubular members by a pin 33 retained by a circlip 30 and the members 23, 24 which are a distance apart slightly greater than the axial length of a sealing ring, are welded to pipe ends 21, 22. The joint may be prevented from rotating by including stops in the grooves 32 extending between the flanges 31 and if limited axial movement is required the grooves 32 may be of greater width than the flanges 31. The locking pin 33 and circlip 30 may be replaced by a setscrew. The joint is intended to save space compared with conventional flanged joints, the sealing rings being removed by withdrawal through the gap between the members 23, 24.
