Abstract
869,889. Plate heat exchangers. PARSONS & CO. Ltd., C.A. Oct. 17, 1958 [Oct. 31, 1957], No. 34055/57. Class 64(3) A plate heat exchanger comprising a series of cells each consisting of a flat plate 1 and two side walls 2a which define a flow channel through the cell having inlets and outlets which are angularly displaced from the line of direction of the flow channel, adjacent cells being reversed so that the inlet and outlet openings of adjacent cells are angularly displaced, the flow channel being subdivided into a plurality of smaller channels by a corrugated plate 3a is characterized by headers 5 for a heat exchanging fluid being bonded e.g. by welding to the element inlets and outlets. The fluid is supplied to the ducts through pipe 6, a method of forming the ducts 5 and pipe in one piece being described. Cleaning fluid may be supplied to the plates through pipe 15 and slits 11 and 12. Two series of cells having the same headers may be used in which case they are separated by an asbestos pad.
