Abstract
869,386. Stoves. HORSTMANN & SHERWEN Ltd. Dec. 3, 1959 [Feb. 27, 1959], No. 6944/59. Class 126. [Also in Group X] The flue 1 of a domestic boiler has a draught inducing device comprising an electrically-driven blower 3 which has a delivery nozzle 7 passing through a cover plate 2 and extending axially up the flue for a short distance. The electric power for the motor 5 of the blower is automatically con-: trolled by a thermostatic switch 6 which is influenced either by flue temperature or the differential between flue temperature and: room or ambient temperature. In a modification the blower, nozzle, motor and switch are mounted on a flue fitment comprising a flue pipe section connectible by insertion into a bell end in the normal flue piping. A draught responsive control means which may replace; the thermostatic switch comprises a counterweighted flap pivotally mounted in a wall of a smoke box connecting the boiler outlet to the flue pipe, which flap operates a roller switch connected to the motor circuit of the blower.
