Abstract

666,072. Unit heaters. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., OSBORNE, W. C., and RYCROFT, J. L. Feb. 9, 1950 [Jan. 25, 1949], No. 2045/49. Class 137 [Also in Group XI] A unit heater comprises a casing 1 having a closed bottom adjacent which .is an air outlet 2, an air inlet 3 adjacent or at the top, an electric heating current 7 behind the outlet 2 and an axial flow fan 12 behind the element 7 with its axis inclined at 7 to 15 degrees with respect to the horizontal, when the casing axis is vertical, to draw air in at 3 and deliver it in a substantially straight downward inclined path through the outlet 2. The outlet 2 is formed in a removable plate 8 which carries a bracket 10 for the element 7, and a bracket 11 for the fan 12. The inlet 3 and outlet 2 have louvres 4, 9 respectively, and a bimetallic switch 16 controls the heating.
