Abstract

867,370. Spring frames for cycles. MURATA, Y. May 8, 1957 [May 9, 1956], No. 14680/57. Class 136(3). In a shock-absorbing suspension system a vehicle wheel is mounted on a deformable, pin-jointed frame which is pivoted to the main frame of the vehicle to which it is also connected by two separate resilient means which respectively oppose horizontal and vertical movement substantially independently of each other. The jointed frame comprises pairs of links 14, 26, 22, as well as the rear forks 28, and is pivoted to the main frame 1-4 at 25 and 17. A single spring 18 bears at one end on a plate 2 which connects the links 22 and at the other on a plate 37 attached to the frame. A pair of springs 15 also bear on the plate 37 and are attached at the other end to lugs 8 on the links 14. A roller 21 on an arm 24 pivoted to the front-end of the rear forks 28 at 23 bears on the underside of the frame tube 4. A frame member 38 is pivoted to the steering head 43 at the front end and is pivoted on a spring mounting 39-40-41 on the axis-pin 32 of the pivot 17.
