Abstract
867,332. Knitting-machines. ACE ENGINEERING CO. Oct. 7, 1957 [Feb. 19, 1957], No. 31356/57. Class 74 (2). [Also in Group IX] The throat-plate of a circular machine comprises a nylon or other plastic material base 10 with a ceramic insert 28 at the mouth to guide the yarn as it is taken by the needles. The front of the base, which is of channel section, is vertically grooved so that the ends of the end walls 12, 14 are undercut, as at 24, 26, to accommodate and secure in position the insert 28 which is of matching configuration. The tops of the ends are reduced below the tops of the end walls, as at 20, 22, so as to receive side webs 34, 36 on the insert whereby the insert is supported in position on the base. An adhesive filler may be used between the insert and base.
