863,920. Cartons. SCHMERMUND, A., [trading as MASCHINENFABRIK A. SCHMERMUND.]. Dec. 16, 1958 [Dec. 16, 1957], No. 40557/58. Class 18. A cigarette carton, of the type shown in Fig. 18 has a groove 90 in a portion extending from the body of the carton, the groove being engaged by a ridge 89 formed by embossing a part 105 of the lid. In a modification, the ridge may be formed by folding over the free end of the part 105 and the lid of the carton may be quadrangular. To permit the lid to close, notches 97 are cut in the portion extending from the body of the carton. The carton shown in Fig. 18 is made from the two blanks shown in Fig. 7, that on the left hand side forming the inner portion of the body that extends upwards and is engaged by the lid.
