Abstract
861,487. Drafting textile fibres. TWEEDALES & SMALLEY Ltd. Sept. 4, 1959 [Sept. 4, 1958], No. 28468/58. Class 120(2) A tensioning device for a drafting apron 26 comprises a bracket 12, preferably U-shaped as shown, which carries a tensioning roller 20 and is urged to rotate about its support 11 by a spring 23 fixed to the support 11 by an anchorage member 21 which may be an adjustable collar secured by a grub screw 22. In the preferred embodiment, the spring 23, which takes the form of a helix, and the collar 21 are mounted concentrically on the support 11 between the arm of the bracket 12 and are separated from the roller 20 and apron 26 by a guard plate 24. Slots 15, 16 provide bearings for the ends 18, 19 of the arbor of the roller 20.
