Abstract

856,824. Force-feed lubricating. VOLPIN, A. S. July 22, 1957 [Feb. 7, 1957], No. 23179/57. Addition to 856,205. Class 12 (3). [Also in Group XXIX] In a lubricant-sealed gate valve according to the parent Specification, the reservoir 32 intermediate its ends is formed with an annular shoulder 34 provided with a conduit 35 that communicates with the gate chamber 14, and a piston 38 is slidable in each portion of the reservoir. In operation, in the closed position of the valve, the upstream or high pressure is communicated from the gate chamber 14 to the space intermediate the pistons and lubricant injected into the end portion of the reservoir communicating with the downstream valve seat is forced around seating grooves therein. The reservoir ends may be closed by nipples 37 through which the reservoir is charged. Specifications 651,474, 700,848, 718,324 and 719,001 are referred to.
