Abstract

846,770. Envelopes. PAPETERIES DU SENTIER HERVE ET FILS S. A. Aug. 26, 1957 [June 27, 1957], No. 26836/57. Class 146(2). [Also in Group XVII] In a paper bag or envelope of the kind made from a single folded blank and having a pocket with its mouth facing towards the bottom of. the bag and on the outside of the bag to receive a reversely folded closure flap, the pocket 15 can be formed either by gumming and folding upper extensions of the side flaps 4, 5, Fig. 1, which form the back of the bag, or made from the upper extension 27, Fig. 10, of the central main portion 3 of the bag. In the first form, Figs. 1 and 4, the side flaps 4, 5 are folded about crease lines 2 and gummed together to form the back of the bag, and the bottom flap 6 is folded and gummed thereto. The extensions 10 of the flaps 4, 5 which are gummed down to the crease line 8 only on their obverse faces, Fig. 1, now form a single upper flap having a central tongue portion; the latter is folded about the crease line 9, and the whole of this upper flap 14, Fig. 4, is folded about the crease line 8 and gummed to the back of the bag, leaving a pocket 15 where the flap 14 cannot be gummed to the back of the bag by reason of the folded tongue on the upper flap 14. The closure flap 7 on the front 3 isnow folded about the crease line 8, reversely folded at the line 9, and tucked into the pocket 15. In Figs. 10 and 14, the side flaps 4, 5, Fig. 10, are folded about the lines 2 over the centre portion 3 and gummed together and the extensions 20, 21 are folded over and gummed to the flaps 4, 5 to form the bottom of the bag. In this case, the obverse face Fig. 10, of the flap 27 has gum thereon extending to the line 8. The narrower portion of the flap 27 is folded about the line 9, and the whole flap then folded about the line 8 and secured to the back of the bag, leaving a pocket 15 by reason of the reversely folded narrower part of the flap 27. The closure flap 28, Fig. 14, formed by the upper extensions 22, 23 of the flaps 4, 5, is folded along the line 9, and the whole of the flap is then folded about the line 8 and tucked into the pocket 15. The bags may be gussetted along the lateral edges and along the bottom, Figs. 8 and 9, (not shown). The pocket 15 can serve as a handle for carrying the bag.
