Abstract

1,033,661. Cartons; plastics bags. AUSTIN PACKAGING Ltd. Jan. 25, 1963 [Jan. 26, 1962], No. 3179/62. Headings B8K and B8P. A pack with tapered side panels 12 (Fig. 9, not shown) and main panels 10 hinged to each other at each end and to the side panels at each side, has crease lines 22 and/or 30 on the main panels 10 extending inwardly from the marginal edges which are secured at 18. The pack is made from a blank in which the longitudinal seam is either down the centre or at an edge of a main panel and the edges thereof may be completely curved or straight with straight or curved tapering ends. Additional flaps may be situated at either end of the main panels to be folded over the marginal ends 18 to improve the end sealing. The inner surface of the pack may be coated with natural or synthetic resins and the end flaps heat sealed together to form an airtight carton. Alternatively the end flaps may be closed by gluing or by a tongue and slit arrangement.
