Abstract
833,787. Cable end sleeves and joints; preventing excess of moisture. BRITISH INSULATED CALLENDERS CONSTRUCTION CO. Ltd. May 9, 1958 [May 10, 1957], No. 14955/57. Drawings to Specification. Classes 36 and 38 (1). A cable fitting, such as an end or joint sleeve, is sealed to the cable sheath by means of a poultice built up in situ without the use of a mould from synthetic resin in a plastic reactive condition and a wrapping of flexible reinforcing material, the resin being of the kind which adheres to both the sheath and the fitting and which sets without heating. The synthetic resin is preferably an epoxide resin blended with a polyamide and may contain powdered aluminium or other specified metallic or non- metallic fillers. For an oil or gas filled cable, the flexible reinforcing material is glass fibre tape and for other cables cotton tape is used. Specification 668,753 is referred to.
