Abstract
818,297. Cable harness conduits; two-part couplings. BENDIX AVIATION CORPORATION. Feb. 10, 1958 [Feb. 13, 1957], No. 4290/58. Classes 36 and 38 (1). A wiring harness comprises one or more conductors 10, 11 enclosed by a plurality of sleeves spaced apart, at least one of which is flexible, the ends of the sleeves and the conductors therebetween being enclosed by preformed hollow resilient plastic fittings 19 having sleeve-like end portions 21, 24 which are sealed around the ends of the sleeves by e.g. cementing. The fittings 19 may consist of co-operating halves bonded after assembly and may be filled with plastic insulating material by injection. The sleeves may consist of an inner sleeve 16 of impregnated or coated woven glass fibre and an outer covering 15 of PVC; a metallic braid being provided over all if required for screening, and cardboard stiffeners 17 being fitted into the ends of the sleeves. A terminal fitting may be provided in the form of a connector 25 comprising an'annular metal casing 27 with a rubber-like interior 28 in which are disposed a plurality of connector pins 29 to which the conductors 38 are soldered, a preformed plastic fitting 30 being sealed to the connector at 31 and to the end of a sleeve 15 and the space between being filled with plastic.
