Abstract

832,594. Suspending cables. PFISTERER, W. Feb. 26, 1958 [Aug. 30, 1967], No. 6198/58. Class 36. [Also in Group XXV] A suspension clamp for an overhead conductor has a split clamp body, the two halyes of which are held together by the clamp wedges or cones. As shown in Figs. 1 and 4, the two halves 1, 2 of the clamp body are formed with ribs 6 which' co-operate with grooves 9, 10 formed in wedges 7, 8. The clamp body is suspended by links 4 connected to bosses 3 formed on each body half. Extensions 7<SP>1</SP>, 8<SP>1</SP> of the wedges held together by bolts 11 form an additional clamp for the conductor and an arcuate conductor support 12 is formed on the wedge 8. In an alternative form, Figs. 6-8 (not shown), the bottoms of the body halves are hinged together and the lower ribs and the groove in the lower wedge is omitted. Alternatively, the lower wedge may be omitted altogether. In a further form, the body halves 301, 302 are shaped as shown in Fig: 11 so that the two halves are held together by insertion of the plain wedges 307, 308. Energy losses in the clamp can be reduced by providing a non-magnetic layer or coating between the body halves and/or the wedges or by forming at least one of the parts from non- magnetic material.
