Abstract

865,345. Junction-boxes. BRITISH INSULATED CALLENDER'S CABLES Ltd. Aug. 6, 1959 [Aug. 7, 1958], No. 25392/58. Class 38 (1). A Y-type or other cable junctionbox comprises two mirror image mouldings 5, 6 enclosing separate clamping members 9, 10 for clamping the cables 1, 2. As shown, the armouring 16 of a cable 1 is clamped between two semi-cylindrical brass shells 20, Fig. 3, and two clamping members 17, 19 which may be identical and separated from the base moulding 6 by a nut or, as shown, by shoulders 18 on the lower member abutting the moulding 6. The mouldings are secured together by bolts 11, which also carry the clamping members 17, 19, passing through tapered holes and by bolts 14 in lugs 13. The box may be filled with insulating compound through a hole covered by a plate 7, a similar hole in moulding 6 also having a cover-plate.
