Abstract

831,997. Stop apparatus for textile machines. BARLOW & CO. (NOTTM) Ltd., J. Dec. 13, 1957 [March 29, 1957], No. 10281/57. Class 120(2) Stop - apparatus for doubling and twisting machines of the kind where at a plurality of stations yarns from separate sources are wound on a single bobbin comprises an electromagnetically controlled cutting device which is operable to cut the remaining yarn or yarns when one is broken or exhausted. In Fig. 2, a plunger 2 carrying a cutter 3 co-operating with an anvil 4 is held against a spring 7 by a detent 10 urged by a spring 14. When a yarn breaks a drop-wire falls to complete a circuit through contacts 17, 18, a leaf-spring 19, and the plunger to an electromagnet 15, whereby the detent is moved to allow the plunger to fall. As it does so, an insulated part 20 engages the leaf-spring to interrupt the circuit, deenergize the electromagnet and allow the spring 7 to raise the plunger and the spring 14 to restore the detent to its operative position. A visual or audible signal may be operated by the movement of the plunger.
