Abstract
831,492. Recording heads. INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS MACHINES CORPORATION. Sept. 3, 1956 [Sept. 6, 1955], No. 26840/56. Class 40 (2). A magnetic transducer 10 having a pair of active portions 11, 12, capable of recording upon or reproducing from a magnetic record 27, is characterized in that the portions are adapted to produce or reproduce from record paths of different widths formed about a common axis on the record 27. The individual core 14, 15, 17 and 31, 33, 34 of each active portion 11, 12 is integral with and extends from one end of a common core part 13 to terminate a predetermined distance 19 or 35 from the other end of the core part 13. The width of the core parts 14, 15, 17 and therefore the air gap is greater than that of the core parts 31, 33, 34 and air gaps 35.
