832,580. Reading head for stationary magnetic tape. DECCA RECORD CO. Ltd. Nov. 18, 1958 [Nov. 19, 1957], No. 36042/57. Drawings to Specification. Class 40 (2). For reading a stationary or slow-moving magnetic tape, " chopping " means are applied opposite the reading gap in the head to vary the reluctance of the immediate region on the opposite side of the tape. The means is either an A.C.-energized ferro-magnetic member or a rotated cog-form ferro-magnetic member. A single member of either form may be applied opposite a multiple reading head simultaneously scanning parallel tracks on the tape. The reading head may thus be of normal moving- tape type. Specification 822,240 is referred to.
