Abstract
760,871. Magnetic recording erasing head. LICENTIA PATENT-VERWALTUNGS-GES. Aug. 19,1954 [Aug. 27, 1953 ; April 1, 1954], No. 24165/54. Class 40 (2). An erasing head for magnetic tape sound record carriers has, proceeding in the direction and path of travel of the tape M at least two gaps, namely a narrow gap 1 of width the same as that of conventional recording heads, i.e. loss than 0.03 mm., followed by an intermediate member 2, 4 which in turn is followed by a wider gap 5 which has the width of a conventional erasing head, i.e. between 0.2 and 0.4 mm. As shown, an additional gap 3 is interposed in the intermediate member 2, 4 and to provide substantially constant reluctance in the gaps the depth of the gaps increases in the direction of the tape's travel. The core may be of a highly permeable ferrite and the flux set up is of high frequency.
