826,799. Induction galvariometers. VYZKUMNY A ZKUSEBNI LETECKY USTAV. Aug. 9, 1957 [Aug. 11, 1956], No. 25187/57. Class 40 (9). In an amplifier of the galvanometer type, the D.C. voltage 13 to be amplified is applied to a moving coil 3 suspended by ferromagnetic wires 1 in a magnetic field, the wires being encircled by output coils 2 and connected to an A.C. supply 11. Electrical connection between the upper and lower wires is provided by the coil former 4. The magnetic field is established by a core 7 and by a cylindrical permanent magnet 8 to which is fitted conductive end caps 5 insulated from each other by washers 6, the enclosed space 12 being filled with a cooling liquid which permits high currents to be passed through the ferromagnetic wires. In operation, deflection of the coil due to a D.C. input imparts torsional movement to the ferromagnetic wires, and a component of the alternating field established by current in the wires induces an output voltage in the coils 2 which is proportional to the torsional movement and therefore the magnitude of the D.C. input.
