894,184. Electrically-released switches. SIEMENS & HALSKE A.G. Dec. 29, 1958 [Jan. 15, 1958], No. 41336/61. Divided out of 891,001. Class 38 (5). In a contact device in which magnetic contact springs F1, F2 may be enclosed in a sealed glass tube (not shown), the contacts are closed by energization of a surrounding coil (not shown) and held closed by the flux #d from a permanent magnet Md. The flux #d is opposed by a flux #k from permanent magnets Mk but this flux #k is limited by the additional reluctance of the springs F1, F2, due to the flow of electric current I in the springs. If the current I is interrupted the opposing flux #k increases and the resultant flux at the contact ends is insufficient to hold the contacts closed. The permanent magnets Md, Mk may be replaced by energized coils.
