Abstract
826,335. Spring upholstery. ETABLISSEMENTS BERTRAND FAURE. March 21, 1958 [March 21, 1957], No. 9226/58. Class 52(4) A spring base for a bed has parallel sinuous springs 2 stretched between the short sides 1 2 of a rectangular rigid frame and auxiliary transverse similar springs 3 stretched between the long sides 1 1 of the frame, the springs 2, 3 being fastened together at their intersections by clips 4. Springs 2 are connected to the frame 1 by short hooks 5 and the springs 3 are connected to the frame by elongated hooks 6 having their outwardly-turned free ends inserted into holes 7 in the frame. Links 8 maintain the outside springs 2 parallel to the frame. For double beds the sides 1 2 are made as curved rigid elements or are reinforced by curved elements 9 to make the spring surface convex and flexible stiffening elements are provided in the form of wires 11 attached to the frame by tension springs 12. In an upholstered base, Fig. 3, the sides of the springs are hooked to the frame by wires 16 having one arm attached to the frame and the other to a second frame 17 mounted thereabove.
