Abstract
824,722. Dashpots. HOULSBY, G. -W. May 15, 1957, No. 15402/57. Class 108(3) [Also in Group XXV] , A dashpot for checking the closing action of a door actuating unit (see Group XXV) comprises a piston 42 and a cylinder 44, Figs. 1 and 3. The escape of the fluid from the dashpot chamber is effected initially through passages 102, 104 in the cylinder head 46, the passages communicating, by way of the adjustable needle valves 98, 100 respectively with a passage 87 leading to a sump. Further movement of the piston towards the block 126 causes the spring loaded pin 106, slidably carried along the axis of the piston, to engage and close the mouth of passage 102, restricting the outflow of fluid to that permitted by the passage 104 and its valve 100. A second dashpot, Fig. 4, provided for checking the door closing movement, comprises a cylinder 126, a piston 132 and high and low speed fluid escape orifices 144, 148 respectively. U.S.A.
