Class 64(3) Apparatus in which air is heated in flowing over an assembly of tubes through which steam is passed, comprises a principal heat exchanger having aluminium or copper tubes e, series-connected to an auxiliary heat exchanger having steel tubes a. In operation; superheated steam is passed through the steel tubes a of the ancillary heat exchanger and is thereby cooled to a temperature at which it may be safely passed through the aluminium or copper tubes e of the ancillary heat exchanger.
