Abstract
<PICT:0590336/III/1> A method of controlling the temperature of a fluid being heated in a heat exchanger by a condensable vapour, comprises passing the vapour through the heat exchanger and regulating the amount of vapour passed therethrough by a valve 1 on the condensate exit line 2, the valve being automatically adjusted in response to the temperature of the effluent heated fluid. The condensable fluid may be steam, oil or mercury vapour, or the vapours of highly stable organic compounds. The heated fluid passes round the vapour tubes 6, the temperature of the fluid leaving the apparatus regulating the valve 1 by means of an electric circuit 7.
