818,233. Multilayer colour photographic materials. FILMFABRIK AGFA WOLFEN VEB. Nov. 17, 1955, No. 32984/55. Class 98(2) A gelatine layer containing a diffusionresistant coupler is interposed between two adjacent emulsion layers which also contain diffusion-resistant couplers, the coupler in the gelatine layer being such as to give, after exposure and procesing, a dye of the same or approximately the same tint as the dye formed in one of the emulsion layers. Two such gelatine layers may be so interposed, each having a coupler corresponding to that of the adjacent emulsion layer. Defects caused by wandering of developer oxidation products are thereby avoided. The gelatine layer may contain a more reactive coupler than that of its adjacent emulsion layer, and it may serve also as a filter layer. Three examples indicate the layer sequences, the first having four of the gelatine-coupler layers and the blue sensitive-emulsion layer uppermost, the second one of the gelatinecoupler layers and the blue sensitive layer lowermost, and the third also having one of the gelatine-coupler layers but the blue sensitive layer uppermost as in the first example, and having a specified cyanacetophenone derivative as coupler in the green sensitised layer, this being the only coupler quoted in the Specification.
