1350249 Photographic silver halide material EASTMAN KODAK CO 9 July 1971 [13 July 1970] 32327/71 Heading G2C A photographic material comprises a support bearing at least one spectrally sensitized silver halide emulsion layer under which is coated a lower blue-sensitive silver halide emulsion layer and over which is coated, in order, a yellow filter layer which transmits some blue light and a upper blue-sensitive silver halide emulsion layer. Green and red-sensitized emulsion layers may be coated under the yellow filter layer. Each of the green and redsensitized emulsion layers may consist of an adjacent pair of layers of emulsions of different speeds. The yellow filter layer may be such that the lower blue-sensitive emulsion layer receives an exposure from 10-50 per cent of the exposure received by the upper blue-sensitive layer. A colour coupler may be present in each emulsion layer or the material may be processed with coupler-containing colour developing solutions. The upper blue-sensitive emulsion layer may have a turbidity which is less than that of the lower blue-sensitive emulsion layer. One of the emulsion layers or layer pairs may be used to record an infrared image, this giving in the processed material a visible image of some chosen colour. By placing part of the bluesensitive emulsion under one or both of red- and green-sensitive emulsion layers, for instance, the amount of light-scatter occurring before light of an exposing image reaches the red- and/ or green-sensitive emulsion layers is reduced and the sharpness is thus increased.
