Abstract
814,215. Jacks. BOWLEY, G. Nov. 4, 1957 [Nov. 9, 1956], No. 34321/56. Class 78 (3). The screw and nut mechanism which actuates the ground-engaging lever 8 of a trailer jack is housed within a pair of telescopic tubes 10, 13 which contain lubricant. The nut (not shown) is secured in tube 13 which carries a guide roller 16 and is slidable within tube 10 which is secured to the trailer by means of a frame 1. The lever 8 is pivoted on the frame 1 about an axis 8b and is connected with roller 16 by an actuating link 17. A pair of struts 23 extend in a V from the lower end of the lever to laterally spaced pivots on the axis 8b. A plate 22 supports roller 16 when the leg is retracted. The ground-engaging foot comprises a piece of tube 9 welded to the leg.
