S., 18, Cross Kiln Street, DAWSON, W., 60, Moorfield Road, Armley, and MOSS, P., 5, Carrholm Road, all in Leeds. Jan. 15, 1934, No. 17738. [Class 79 (iii)] A jacking attachment for vehicles comprises a pivoted strut or prop 1 embracing a collar or nut 7 on a threaded spindle 5, the nut being restrained from rotation and formed with projections 12 engaging slots 13 in the prop. The prop pivot 3 and bearings 6 for the spindle may be carried by a channel-shaped bracket 4 or directly by the vehicle frame. The prop may be in the form of a casting or may comprise a piece 1 of channel iron or steel, strengthened if necessary by ribs, and with an enlarged and inclined lower end forming a foot 2, or it may be formed in two parts, Fig. 3, adjustably connected by bolts 16. The spindle 5 is restrained from longitudinal movement by a bracket 8 and a nut on its reduced end 9 and may be rotated by means of a wheel brace or rod 15 applied to its end 14. The nut may bear against a guide 11 or an inner surface on the bracket to support the spindle against buckling.
