810,902. Writing cases; block and sheet holders. JOTTO CORPORATION. March 27, 1957 [April 19, 1956], No. 10089/57. Classes 16 and 146(3) A book-cover type carrying case, e.g. for stationery, comprises two portions 10, 11 each consisting of a flat panel 12, a flap hinged to one edge thereof and consisting of two stiff strips 19, 20 hingedly connected to each other, and means for releasably coupling the outermost strip 20 of one portion to the panel 12 of the other portion. Each panel 12 is made of a plurality of layers of material of which the uppermost is slotted as at 18 to receive a tongue on the back of a writing pad 15 which is thereby attached to the panel. The panels may also have lugs 17 punched out to hold pencils 16. Snap type fasteners 21 serve to hold the portions 10, 11 together in the closed position at which the thickness of the case substantially corresponds to the width of the strips 19. In use either one or, as shown, both of the fasteners may be released, and the strips 20 may be used to cover a portion of the pads 15 to conceal what is written thereon.
