Abstract

809,170. Discharge apparatus. SIEMENS EDISON SWAN Ltd. Oct. 16, 1957 [Oct. 19, 1956], No. 31924/56. Class 39(1). An electron discharge tube 1, with its anode 2 forming part of the envelope, has a safety switch 9 arranged on release to at least limit the anode current, the control member 8 of the switch being connected e.g. by a spring 7 and cord 6 to a soldered connection 4 so that melting of the solder at a predetermined temperature causes the release of the switch and thus prevents overheating of the anode. The soldered connection may be made by a wire loop at the end of the cord being soldered into a hole in the anode flange 3, or the loop may be soldered to a screw in a tapped hole in the flange.
