Abstract
700,055. Discharge apparatus. PHILIPS ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. Feb. 5, 1952 [Feb. 8, 1951], No. 3011/52. Class 39(1) In a discharge tube having an anode forming part of the envelope and closed at one end, a zirconium getter is arranged in satisfactory thermal contact on the closed end of the anode and the grid is also closed at the end opposite the getter. In manufacturing the transmitting triode shown in the Figure the zirconium plate 5 is degassed in a separate bulb at 1600‹ and after it has been saturated with hydrogen it is secured to the anode by a nut. Together with the anode the plate is heated in vacuo at temperature of 600‹-700‹C, the hydrogen then being driven out and the zirconium plate being activated.
