Abstract
806,294. Automatic temperature control systems. VAPOR HEATING CORPORATION. June 27, 1956 [July 6, 1955], No. 19933/56. Class 38 (4). In a system wherein the temperature of an enclosure is regulated by a contact thermometer 1 having an auxiliarly heating coil 6 fed through an adjustable resistor 7 whereby the range within which the thermometer operates may be adjusted, a temperature-sensitive resistor 14 having a negative temperature coefficient. is connected in parallel with the resistor 7 and heated through a circuit 13 which is fed with power over contacts 10 of relay 9 at the same time as the main heater 12 is energized over contacts 11. Contacts 10, 11 are opened when contacts 2, 3 of the thermometer are closed by the mercury column. The use of a resistor having a positive temperature coefficient in conjunction with a modified arrangement of relay contacts is also suggested.
