Abstract

802,243. Endless conveyer belts. SANDVIKENS JERNVERKS AKTIEBOLAG. Feb. 1, 1955 [Feb. 5,1954], No. 2975/55. Class 78 (1). In an endless conveyer, the conveyer band consisting of a steel belt 2 has an endless V-belt 48 secured to its inner face which engages in the grooves of terminal pulleys 4, 6. The pulley 6 is driven from a motor 40 through a speed-reducing gear 42 and a V-belt 44 engaging a pulley 46 keyed to the shaft 22 of the pulley 6. The upper and lower runs 8, 10 of the belt are supported by fixed runners 12, 14 which, together with the pulleys 4, 6 are supported on a frame 16. The pulley 4 is mounted by bearings 28 on a frame 30 slidable on frame members 18, and the correct tension of the belt is maintained by a weight 38 connected to a cable 32 secured to the frame 30. The runners 12, 14 may be replaced by idler rollers 50, Fig. 4. In a modification, Fig. 5, the terminal driving pulley is provided with grooves 54, 56, 58, the groove 56 receiving the V-belt 48 secured to the conveyer band 2, and the grooves 54, 58, driving belts 60, 62. When a wide steel belt is used, Fig. 6, two V-belts 64, 66 are bonded to it and these ride in pulleys 70, 72 on opposite sides of the driven pulley 74. The steel belt may be covered with rubber on one side or totally enclosed in rubber.
