Abstract

1329973 Endless conveyers DUNLOP HOLDINGS Ltd 14 Oct 1970 [23 Oct 1969] 51970/69 Heading B8A A direction-changing station for a conveyer belt 1 includes a series of pulleys 2-6 of which 2 is a driving pulley, 3, 5 are tensioning pulleys, 4 is a change-direction pulley and 6 is an idler. Conventional combs 12, 13 are provided. In a further embodiment, Fig. 2, the belt engages two change-direction pulleys 9, 10 and is also supported by rollers 11. The pulleys may be adjustably mounted and the adjustment may be manual or automatic. The return run of the belt can be either side of, beneath, or above, the original run. In Fig. 3, guide strips 15, 16 of the belt and grooves 17, 18 of a guide pulley 19 are so dimensioned that the belt's main surface 20 is maintained clear of the pulley. In Fig. 4 (not shown) the grooves (22, 23) of a drive pulley are larger than the guide strips and the main part of the belt engages the pulley. In Figs. 5, 6 (not shown) the belt has a single guide strip (15). The guiding arrangements may be used to guide long belts throughout their length to provide accurate tracking.
